Why Counting Sleep with Courtney

Not a one-size-fits-all sleep plan. A consultant who actually gets toddlers.

You've probably already fallen down a Google rabbit hole at 2:00 AM, reading conflicting advice from a dozen different blogs and still not knowing what's actually right for your kid. Most sleep training advice is written for babies, and toddlers and big kids are a different world entirely. They have strong memories, opinions, and big feelings about bedtime. What worked at six months old often falls apart at two, three, or five years old.

Courtney pairs evidence-based training through The Cradle Coach Academy with a background in elementary education and years spent as a nanny, so she understands not just sleep science, but how young children actually process change, and how to bring them into the process of sleep training instead of it feeling like something being done to them.

Courtney's Story
Courtney Campbell and her family in Indianapolis, pediatric sleep consultant and mom of two "My first son was born in March 2020, and within a week, the world shut down due to COVID. As I navigated the newness of motherhood, I found myself completely isolated: no mom groups, no extended family to help, none of the "village" everyone talks about.

I turned to Instagram for the village I couldn't have in person and found sleep consultants, lactation experts, and postpartum nurses who guided me through the postpartum overwhelm. I loved learning the research and science behind baby sleep, and seeing how life-changing it was for me and my baby made me want to help other moms experience that same transformation. A few years later, I took the leap and became a certified pediatric sleep consultant myself.

Then that same little boy took me one step further. In the middle of getting my certification, he started preschool for the very first time, and the separation anxiety hit hard. The sleep regression that followed was one of the most exhausting stretches of parenting I've been through. At the time, it made toddler sleep feel like the last thing I wanted to take on, but he was actually pushing me toward my eventual specialty. As I worked with more and more toddler families, I found that this was my passion.

What followed was a lot of intentional work: getting my toddler-specific certification, drawing on my background in elementary education and years as a nanny, and pouring all of it into building my unique Ready, Set, Sleep Prep Plan™ designed specifically for this age group.

Now, I get to be part of other moms' villages, walking alongside them through their own journey of motherhood." — Courtney

Courtney's Signature Approach

The Ready, Set, Sleep Prep Plan™

Courtney is the creator of the Ready, Set, Sleep Prep Plan™, a framework that helps children become emotionally ready for independent sleep before families make any bedtime changes. Before you change a single thing about your child's sleep, I prepare them, mentally and emotionally, first. Your child is part of the process, not subject to it. Less resistance, less guilt, and results that actually stick because your kid actually bought in.

What Families Are Saying

Real families, real results, ages 4 months to 7 years.

"Courtney was super helpful in developing a sleep plan for our 6-year-old son. There can be many different transitions and considerations for sleeping during all of the stages of development. I very much appreciate Courtney's encouragement, boundary setting, and suggestions for seemingly simple things like a sleep timer or different curtains, which have made a huge difference in the amount and quality of sleep that our son is getting."

— Chelsea M., mom of a 6-year-old

"By the time he was 3.5, bedtime had become something I dreaded. On nights when I put him down, it could be a ninety minute battle of waiting for him to fall asleep for me to sneak out of his room. Using Courtney's sleep training plan, our son was falling asleep on his own in, are you ready for this, under 3 weeks!! Working with Courtney has given my son healthy sleep habits and confidence in himself."

— Jenna F., mom of a 3.5-year-old

"Courtney took the time to really listen to us on what we needed and made the most detailed prep plans and sleep plans for us to follow. She helped us get our toddler sleeping again, gave us confidence in our bedtime routine, and helped us teach our daughter how to feel safe in her own bed. I swear Courtney has magical powers!"

— Alli C., mom of a 2-year-old

"What I appreciated most was how personalized everything was. She really took the time to understand our child's temperament and our goals, and gave us a clear, step-by-step plan that actually worked. Now bedtime is calm and predictable, and we all wake up more rested."

— Meredith M., mom of an 18-month-old

"Courtney really helped coach me to get my son on a solid nap and sleep schedule! Within just a week's time, my 8-month-old started putting himself to sleep for naps and more consistently was sleeping through the night. I can't recommend Courtney enough for all of your child's sleep needs!"

— Savannah M., mom of an 8-month-old

About Courtney

Hi, I'm Courtney.

Courtney Campbell, Certified Pediatric Sleep Consultant in Indianapolis, Indiana

I'm a mom to two boys, a former kindergarten and first-grade teacher, and a Certified Pediatric Sleep Consultant through The Cradle Coach Academy. I know how isolating motherhood can feel, especially when sleep isn't going well, I've been there, and I want to be part of your village.

Questions Parents Ask at 2:00 AM

If you're lying in your toddler's bed right now waiting for them to fall asleep, you're in the right place.

What is a sleep consultant?

A sleep consultant is an expert in creating healthy sleep habits using evidence-based techniques while guiding parents through a customized sleep plan tailored to their child's temperament and their family's philosophy. A sleep consultant supports and educates parents while working to resolve sleep struggles.

What is sleep training?

Sleep training is the process of teaching a baby or child to fall asleep and stay asleep on their own. Courtney offers a variety of methods for a customized sleep plan, chosen based on your child's temperament and your family's philosophy on crying.

Will there be crying?

Some crying is likely as your child adjusts, but this is never the traditional "cry it out" approach where a child is left alone all night. Courtney uses gentle, responsive techniques with different levels of parental involvement, chosen based on your comfort level and your child's temperament.

What kinds of sleep struggles can you help with?

Courtney supports families dealing with naps, night wakings, early morning wakings, weaning night feedings, and getting kids sleeping in their own crib or bed, among others. She works with children ages 4 months to 7 years old, though toddlers and big kids are her specialty.

Is this virtual or in-person?

Fully virtual, so you can be anywhere in the world. Courtney is based in Indianapolis but works with families everywhere by phone, text, email, a booking app, or video call.

How long until we see results?

Most families start implementing within 5–8 days of purchasing and see improvements within the first week, with sleep habits fully transformed within 2–3 weeks, though this varies by age and temperament.

My toddler already has strong opinions about bedtime, will sleep training even work?

Yes, and that's exactly why the Ready, Set, Sleep Prep Plan™ exists. Toddlers who understand what's happening and feel involved in the process resist far less than toddlers who are simply told what to do. Preparation during the day is what makes nighttime changes stick.

When should I take away the pacifier, and will it wreck our sleep?

There's no single right age, check with your dentist, though most recommend before age 3. It's common for sleep to feel harder for a few nights after the pacifier goes, but with a strong sleep foundation and a plan for a replacement comfort item, most toddlers adjust within a week or two. Read Courtney's full guide on toddler sleep after pacifier removal →

Do you use reward charts or sticker systems?

No. Reward charts motivate compliance from the outside; the Ready, Set, Sleep Prep Plan™ builds genuine comfort and confidence from the inside, so kids aren't white-knuckling through bedtime for a sticker, they're actually ready.

We already tried sleep training on our own and it didn't work. How is this different?

You'll get a clear, written, customized plan and a real person guiding, troubleshooting, and adjusting it with you, not a generic method from a book or app. For toddlers, the Ready, Set, Sleep Prep Plan™ is usually the missing piece: it gets kids emotionally ready before anything changes, so they work with you instead of against you.
